Kin Poon is a commercial mortgage broker with Essential Capital Advisors. Currently based out of Birmingham, AL, Kin focuses on middle-market debt advisory across the nation. He specializes in sourcing debt capital for commercial real estate investors and focuses on the timely execution of transactions including acquisition financing, construction loans, refinance and bridge as well as hard-money financing.
Prior to ECA, Kin spent nearly 5 years in investment banking at leading investment banks Guggenheim Securities and Bank of America in both Houston and New York City, where he executed M&A and capital-market transactions such as IPO and high-yield bond offerings. His clients were mostly in the oil & gas, auto retail, luxury retail, and industrial space.
Kin holds an MBA in Finance, with a minor in Real Estate, from Cornell University. After obtaining his undergraduate degree from Texas State University, he started his career in public accounting with PwC and a regional accounting firm, focusing on taxation.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and his son, playing soccer, and reading.
